APOLLO DVT TRIAL
This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, parallel group trial
to demonstrate the efficacy of fondaparinux sodium in association with
Intermittent Pneumatic Compression vs. Intermittent Pneumatic Compression
used alone for the prevention of venous thromboembolic events in patients
at increased risk undergoing major abdominal surgery. Fondaparinux sodium
is totally synthetic drug, similar to part of heparin, a naturally
occurring blood thinner. This study is sponsored by Sanofi-Synthelabo.
