APOLLO DVT TRIAL
This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, parallel group trial to demonstrate the efficacy of fondaparinux sodium in association with Intermittent Pneumatic Compression vs. Intermittent Pneumatic Compression used alone for the prevention of venous thromboembolic events in patients at increased risk undergoing major abdominal surgery. Fondaparinux sodium is totally synthetic drug, similar to part of heparin, a naturally occurring blood thinner. This study is sponsored by Sanofi-Synthelabo.

EARLY AGE-OF-ONSET COLORECTAL CANCER TRIAL
This is a prospective study of the prognostic significance of microsatellite instability in patients with early age-of-onset colorectal cancer. It evaluates patients for the possibility of Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colon Cancer (HNPCC) syndrome. This study is sponsored by the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.
